Francis Kulaga’s career in hospitality has taken him from Brooklyn to San Francisco, enriched by extensive travels across Europe and a diverse range of roles, from grocery store manager to hotel director. Now the General Manager and Beverage Director at Anomaly SF, he combines his Certified Sommelier and Certified Cicerone credentials with a passion for creating memorable dining experiences.
From his tough beginnings in Brooklyn to the suburbs of Philadelphia, he emerged with a drive fueled by his father’s unwavering work ethic and a keen interest in learning through hands-ons experiences. Eager to make money as a teenager, Francis took on his first job in a grocery store at the age of 14 - ultimately ending up as a manager before graduation and hinting at his future in hospitality. His journey evolved through pivotal experiences in London’s pubs and the vineyards of Bordeaux and Burgundy, where he honed his wine expertise before he returned to
Philadelphia to pursue a formal education in management and marketing. After years in various hospitality positions, including a significant role at Casa Madrona Hotel, and adventures that took him from Mexico to Alaska and New Zealand to Australia, he eventually returned to education, earning a degree in Enology & Viticulture before consulting for prominent restaurant and hotel destinations in the Bay Area. At Anomaly SF, he collaborates closely with Chef Mike Lanham to craft an extraordinary dining atmosphere that emphasizes both culinary artistry and genuine hospitality. Outside of work, Francis enjoys traveling, live music, and spending time with his wife, Victoria, and their cat, Don Fuego.
